GLOG Class: The Ghost

We're continuing our class list for our sci-fi super soldier GLOG hack! (Check out the Juggernaut, our last class here). As a reminder, our hack (working title is GLOSS) is based on incredibly powerful futuristic soldiers (think Halo, Mass Effect, Gears of War, etc). Not quite mech, not quite Iron Man, not quite WH40k, but somewhere in that big Venn diagram.

Here's a stealth-focused scout type: the Ghost.

Ghost: Stealth and Reconnaissance

You're a terrifying specter of silence, able to move among your enemies with ease. Your ability to flow through shadow and track your prey borders on the supernatural.

Template abilities

  • A: Predatory
  • B: Evade
  • C: Stalk
  • D: Shadowstep
Benefit by level: get +1 to stealth (STL) per Ghost template.

A: Predatory

You maintain any benefits of stealth even when moving at full speed, communicating, attacking, or doing things that would otherwise reveal you. You only break stealth when you choose, you suffer a complication, or you directly interact with a target (the target is aware of you). Enemies with high-tech or supernatural senses may ignore this ability.

B: Evade

You're able to easily slip away from combat or other dangerous situations, always finding a bit of cover or concealment to aid you in getting out of line of sight or incoming fire. Likewise, your allies can follow you out more easily than if they retreated on their own. This doesn't directly apply to stealth or social situations, but can help with movement or other checks to get out of danger.

C: Stalk

Easily identify spoors, trails, or tracks left behind by people, vehicles, or beasts. You can tell how fresh the trail is, the general condition of your target, and the direction of their movement. In environments with little terrain or detritus (such as on a spaceship) you can still use thermal signatures or other data. The GM can permit you to roll a check against otherwise impossible tracking attempt to locate your target.

Blink from Dishonored

D: Shadowstep

You can seemingly teleport between shadows larger than your body. Your movement is silent, you can maintain weird postures and hold odd angles easily, effectively vanish in the darkness, and climb all but the smoothest walls. Likewise, you're able to attempt STL checks that others would find impossible.

This can be used in conjunction with your other template abilities, likely resulting in being able to escape from prisons, desperate situations, or the direct scrutiny of your enemy. You can get into favorable positions (such as right behind an enemy) which permits you to assassinate them with ease.
